Which way does your property face?
The direction that your property faces can affect the amount of sunlight that it is exposed to. Any panels on your roof should face in a southern direction to receive the greatest amount of sunlight throughout the day. Although the PV panels are most efficient when facing south they are still very efficient when east and west facing.
What is the angle of your roof?
The pitch or angle of your roof can make a difference to the amount of sunlight it will receive throughout the day and therefore the amount of energy that can be generated. Solarizingcater to most roof types and your Solar Consultant can discuss your needs with you in detail.
How shaded is your roof?
Any shading on your roof area from chimneys, trees or surrounding properties will have a negative impact on the amount of energy your roof panels will be able to produce. Our consultants will work with you when planning the installation to avoid shading wherever possible.
Is my roof suitable for Solar Panels?
We can tailor our solar panel installs to suit most roof tiles including tiled, slated, corrugated or sealed roofs. Your Solar Consultant can discuss the many options available to you.
Is your property/land in a conservation area?
If you are located in an area of outstanding beauty or a conservation area you may require planning permission for your solar installation.
How it works
With no noise or emissions solar PV panels use the sun’s energy to create electricity to power your home, business, farm or out buildings.
The PV panels are mounted onto your roof, the panels are then connected to an inverter via double insulated cables that run through the attic space to the location of the main board in the house. The inverter converts the DC power generated by the solar panels to AC power that can be used in the home or fed into the grid. An electricity meter connected inline with the inverter measures the amount of power generated by the panels, a remote monitor can also be installed to let the home owner see how much power the panels are generating at any given time.
The power from the panels flows into the existing consumer unit in the house, this power can be used to help power appliances that are in use or can be set up to heat the water via the immersion heater, allowing the household to get the most from the energy that they generate.
With the introduction of the Governments Feed In Tariff scheme this type of technology is a very attractive and lucrative option.

What is FITS?
FIT’s is an environmental programme introduced by the government in April 2010 to promote the uptake of renewable, low carbon electricity generation technologies.
The scheme guarantees a minimum payment of all electricity generated by your solar PV system. If eligible to receive FIT’s you will benefit financially in three ways:-
1) Generation/ Feed In Tariff-
A set rate paid by the energy supplier for each unit (or kWh) of electricity you generate. For those entering the scheme in the first two years, you will continue on the same tariff for 20 years for solar electricity (PV). Please see the table below:

2) Export Tariff-You will received a further 4.6p/kWh for each unit you export back to the grid.
3) Energy Bill Saving-You will make savings on your electricity bills by generating your electricity to power your own appliances, this reduces the amount of power you import, thus reducing your annual bills.
The scheme covers Solar PV systems up to 5MW, which are MCS accredited and installed by an MCS accredited supplier.
